Why do I need to test my QR code?

How does the reliability audit work?

Your QR code is transformed through 20 real-world simulations: tilted 15, 30, and 45 degrees, shrunk to 50%, 30%, and 20% of original size, blurred, contrast-reduced, partially occluded, noise-added, and with a simulated 20% center logo. Each transformed image is fed through our scan engine. The percentage that decode successfully determines the reliability score.

Is my QR code image uploaded to any server?

Accepted Answer

No. The entire audit runs in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your image never leaves your device. You can verify by opening your browser DevTools Network tab while running the audit - you will see zero network requests.

What do the grades mean?

Accepted Answer

A+ and A (85-100): print-ready, handles tilt, small sizes, fading, and smudges. B (75-84): reliable for digital use and medium-print, some edge-case failures. C (60-74): works in ideal conditions only, raise error correction before printing. D (40-59): significant risk, small print and real-world wear will break it. F (below 40): not production-ready, regenerate with higher error correction, higher contrast, and smaller or no logo.

What is error correction and why does it matter?

QR codes use Reed-Solomon error correction, which embeds redundant data so the code can still decode if part of it is damaged. There are four levels: L (7% recovery), M (15%), Q (25%), and H (30%). Higher levels make the QR denser but far more tolerant of fingerprints, tears, stickers, and embedded logos. For anything printed or touched in the real world, use level H.

Can I put a logo on my QR code?

Yes, with error correction level H you can safely cover up to roughly 30% of the code center area with a logo and it will still scan. This audit simulates a 20% center logo specifically so you know whether your current settings survive it before you commit to a design.
