Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 11, 2026
This policy explains what Link2QR collects, what it does not collect, and the choices you have. It covers link2qr.com and its subpages.
The short version
- Your QR code content never leaves your browser. The URL, WiFi password, contact details, or text you enter is encoded locally on your device. We never receive it, never store it, and never log it.
- We do not require an account. There is no signup, so we hold no name, email address, or password for you.
- The QR codes we generate are static and contain no redirect. We cannot see or count scans, because scans never touch our servers.
- We use analytics and advertising cookies on the website itself. These measure site traffic and fund the free tool. Details below.
QR code content
QR code generation happens entirely client-side using JavaScript running in your browser. Whatever you type into the generator is converted into an image on your own device. It is not transmitted to Link2QR, and it is not transmitted to any third party. Closing the tab discards it.
This applies to every QR type, including WiFi passwords, vCard contact details, and payment links. If you use the batch CSV generator, your CSV file is read in the browser and is never uploaded.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate traffic: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are located at country level, which browser and device type they use, and which site referred them. This is used to decide what to build and which guides to write.
These tools set cookies or similar identifiers. They do not receive your QR code content. Google Analytics data handling is described in Google’s Privacy Policy.
Recent visitor locations shown on the site
A line near the top of the site shows places Link2QR has recently been used from, such as "Seattle, WA" or "Sao Paulo, Brazil". This is what it does and does not involve:
- The location is derived from the region of your internet connection by our hosting provider, at city level only. It is never precise, and it is not device GPS.
- Your IP address is not stored, not logged by this feature, and never shown. Only the city, region and country names are kept.
- The list is held in server memory, not in a database or a file. It holds at most twelve places, entries expire after six hours, and everything is discarded when the server restarts.
- Nothing identifies you. There is no cookie, no account and no identifier attached to an entry, and a repeat visit from the same city is merged rather than added again.
- Because it is city level and carries no identifier, an entry cannot reasonably be traced back to an individual. A city with a single visitor still reveals no more than that someone in that city used a free QR generator.
If you would rather not appear in it, a VPN changes the region your connection reports. There is no stored record to request or delete, because nothing is written down: every entry is held only in server memory and is gone within six hours or on the next server restart.
Advertising
Link2QR displays advertising supplied by Google AdSense on some pages. Advertising keeps the generator free, unlimited, and free of watermarks.
- Google and its third-party vendors use cookies, including the DoubleClick/Google Ads cookie, to serve ads on this site based on your prior visits to this and other websites. This is sometimes called interest-based or personalized advertising.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. How Google uses information from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
- Advertisers never receive your QR code content. It is not available to us, so it cannot be shared with them.
Consent and your choices
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you are shown a consent message before personalized advertising or non-essential analytics cookies are set. You can accept, reject, or change your choice at any time through the consent link in the footer.
You can also block cookies in your browser settings. The QR generator will continue to work normally, because it does not depend on cookies.
Data we never collect
- QR code content of any kind
- Uploaded logo images, which are processed in your browser
- Account credentials, since there are no accounts
- Scan events, since our QR codes contain no tracking redirect
- Payment information, since the tool is free
Children
Link2QR is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
Data requests
Link2QR is a self-serve tool with no support desk. There is usually nothing to request or delete on its side: QR code content is generated in your browser and is not stored on Link2QR servers, and there are no personal accounts to hold data about you. Analytics and advertising data are handled by Google, and Google's own controls for that data are linked above (Google's Privacy Policy and Ad Settings). See also our Terms of Service and the help and support page.
