Help and Support: Fix Common QR Code Problems

Link2QR is a self-serve tool with no support desk and no email inbox to check. There is no channel here that promises a reply. The good news is that almost every question people have already has an answer on this site, in the free tools and guides below.

Fix a QR code that will not scan

Most problems people run into are about a code that will not scan, and almost all of those have a self-serve answer. These pages are free and need no account:

    • Why is my QR code not scanning walks through the most common causes, in order of likelihood, from low contrast to a printed size that is too small.
    • Decoder reads a damaged or blurry code back and shows exactly what it encodes. It runs a repair ladder (grayscale, contrast, thresholding, inversion, scaling) before giving up, so it often recovers codes a phone camera rejects.
    • Reliability audit grades a code across eight categories and names the specific problem, such as insufficient contrast or a missing quiet zone.
    • Print size calculator gives the minimum physical size for a given scan distance. Printing too small is the single most common cause of a code that works on screen but fails on paper.
    • Scanner checks what a code actually opens before you trust it.
    • Do QR codes expire explains why a code from another provider may have stopped working, which is usually a dynamic redirect that was switched off.
    • The FAQ covers formats, logos, error correction, and commercial use.

    Diagnosing a bug yourself

Because the generator runs entirely in your browser, most issues are specific to a browser or device. Checking the following usually finds the cause:

    • The content type you selected, such as URL, WiFi, vCard, or Multi-link.
    • Your browser and version, and whether you are on desktop or mobile.
    • The export format you used, such as PNG, SVG, JPEG, PDF, GIF, or STL.
    • Any customization that was active, such as an uploaded logo, an art style, or a non-default error correction level.
    • Whether the exported file opens and scans correctly in the scanner above.

Never put real WiFi passwords, personal contact details, or anything else sensitive into a QR code you are only using to test a problem. A placeholder that reproduces the same issue is enough.

    Privacy and data requests

There is nothing to request or delete. QR code content is encoded in your browser and never stored on Link2QR servers, uploaded logo images are processed locally, and there are no accounts, so there are no stored credentials. Our codes are static and contain no redirect, which means we cannot see who scanned one or when. The website itself uses Google Analytics and may show ads through Google AdSense, both of which use cookies; the privacy policy explains what those collect and links to Google's own controls for that data.

    Business use, integrations, and automation

There is no partnerships desk, but most business needs are already covered by the tool itself. If you want to generate codes programmatically, the URL API may already cover it, and batch generation handles CSV input for large runs without any custom work.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fix a QR code that will not scan?

Start with the decoder: it reads a damaged or blurry code back and shows exactly what it encodes, then you can generate a clean replacement. The reliability audit grades a code across eight categories and names the specific problem, such as insufficient contrast or a missing quiet zone. The blog post on why a QR code is not scanning covers the most common causes in order of likelihood.

Can you recover a QR code I made earlier?

Not from our side, and this is a consequence of how the tool works rather than a policy. Link2QR has no accounts and no database of generated codes, so there is nothing stored to look up. If you still have the image, upload it to the decoder to read back exactly what it encodes, then generate a replacement.

Do you offer dynamic QR codes or scan analytics?

No. Link2QR generates static codes only, which is why they never expire and have no scan limit. The tradeoff is that the destination cannot be edited after the code is created and there is no scan tracking. If you need editable destinations or scan counts, a hosted dynamic service is the right tool for that.

Is there a way to send feedback or request a feature?

Link2QR is a self-serve, zero-admin tool with no support inbox, so there is no guaranteed way to reach a person. The FAQ, this page, and the guides linked below cover the questions most people have.

Can I use Link2QR codes commercially?

Yes. Codes you generate are yours to use, including on products, packaging, signage, and paid marketing materials. There is no watermark, no attribution requirement, and no licence fee. QR Code is a registered trademark of Denso Wave, but the standard itself is open and free to use.
